Grading

Some components of your grade are individual, some are shared by your entire team. The project workflow details 8 milestones. 6 of these have deliverables that contribute to grades as per the table below. The most critical module review and final selection are not graded deliverables. In order to receive team-wide grade components, an individual must actively contribute to the milestone.

*Team instructors may assign grades to students by task force instead of assigning the same grade to the entire team. Design notebooks will be graded by instructors at a minimum every 2 weeks (starting week of 9/19). Some instructors like to check in weekly. This will happen in team meeting or as arranged by instructors. Individual team instructors assign grades to students in their team. All instructors work in close communication with each other—results after each milestone are discussed to ensure that grading is equitable between sections within a team, and between teams. Additionally, teams will obtain design feedback from several other course staff after each major project milestone. Also, after each milestone, this collective feedback is discussed in lecture since the primary purpose of reviews is to help improve the projects and to facilitate a discussion of what approaches worked well and what can be improved upon.
